Jade's birth story

Jades Birth Story:
After getting my membranes swept Thursday (13th) I was almost sure that would do the trick and labor was sure to come thursday night... Well thursday night came and went with very few contractions, as did friday. Saturday the 15th was my Aunt Connie's funeral. I had been hoping she wouldn't come before and especially not during so I could attend her services. I had a few contractions now and then but nothing worth paying any attention to. That night I took a warm bath and went to bed feeling someone relieved that she hadn't come but now wondering when she would.
5:30am Sunday, I was woken by a fairly strong contraction, I preyed that  they would start coming consistently which they sort of did so I decided to get up and walk around to encourage them. They started to come on pretty strong and the only thing I could do to ease some of the pain was to by getting down on all fours and rocking back and forth. By 6:30am my contractions were still not all that consistent but I decided to wake Jerel and let him know that I thought I was going into labor and I was going to take a shower. I had two strong contractions while in the shower. Jerel had gotten up by then and watched me work through a contraction. He's like, "Sure looks like labor!" He called Janese & Alan while I called my mom. I still wasn't all that sure that I was far enough into labor to call my mom but I told her she should come. Shortly after calling her I then realized that we couldn't wait for Jerel's parents to come stay with Aiden so we took him with us telling his parents to meet us at the hospital.
I had a hard time getting into the car to sit, I was in so much pain I had to sit on my side. I had extremely strong urge to push/use the bathroom all at once which I didn't have with Aiden. I called my mom on the way to tell her to go to the hospital. We stopped at the first red light but ran the next. I am so grateful we live so close to the hospital. When we arrived, Jerel got Aiden out of the car and I headed to the doors but only made it half way and had to sit down/lay down in the parking lot I was in so much pain. My mom pulled up just then and took Aiden so Jerel could help me through the doors and onto the elevator. The lady at the entrance of L&D asked if I was ok, I shook my head and told her I wasn't. They got me a wheel chair and wheeled me off to the nearest room. I practically ripped my top of while the nurse took car of my pants and helped me into a gown. I had a hard time getting onto the bed with the contractions going. I looked the nurse straight in the eyes and said: "I want and epidural now!" The other nurse checked to see my progress and said, "You are complete" (meaning I was fully dilated to a 10) "it's too late you can't have an epidural, she is right there." I about died when I realized I wouldn't be getting an epidural.... She instructed me not to push and to blow out candles while we waited for Dr. Firth to arrive. I think that was honestly the worst part, trying not to push and just breathe through a contraction. Thankfully Dr. Firth arrived with me only having to endure 2 contractions. He also had ran several red lights, the nurses were shocked he had gotten there so fast.
We arrived at the hospital at 7:30am and with 4 contractions of pushing we had a baby by 7:54am. She came if we had left our apt any later I probably would have deliver her in the parking lot. Sure it was painful. All the contractions where felt in my back, I was grateful for my mom and Jerel who rubbed it through the contractions. I about broke Jerel's hands by squeezing them so hard, my left had pinkie finger is still numb, I guess I hurt a nerve- seems fitting cause I had a numb knee after delivering Aiden. I did however have to get an episiotomy with a local anesthetic but at the point I just wanted her out. I screamed out once but and was told to push instead of scream.... Pretty proud of myself.
I still can't believe I did it naturally.... I didn't have much of a choice, that baby was coming out. I will admit the benefits of going natural were: I knew when to push and how to effectively, I was able to deliver on my side, and I could walk very shortly after because my legs weren't numb. If every labor went that quickly and was over I could do it naturally every time..... but I liked the epidural.....
Jerel later so kindly told me that I "pooped 2 small turds".... He so could have not even mentioned that but my dr and the nurses were so desecrate that I didn't even know so there really wasn't anything to be embarrassed about. Jerel also said this delivery was 10x less traumatic for him.... Nice right?
